Helping Terra Dotta Help You: Avoiding User Created Data Inconsistencies

>>View Presentation Slides

As an Administrative User, Terra Dotta Software places great power at your fingertips.  This power also enables you to inadvertently create data inconsistencies that can reduce the reliability and usability of your data and reports. With power comes responsibility. This session will begin with a brief, high-level overview of database fundamentals, followed by a discussion of the importance of maintaining data integrity and adhering to consistency in naming conventions.  Using actual cases, Dartmouth College will identify some areas within Terra Dotta Software where user created data inconsistencies can lead to problems with data accuracy, information retrieval, and reporting. The session will conclude with a review of best practices for maintaining clean data to ensure you have the full power of Terra Dotta Software working for you at all times.

This session is intended for new and intermediate users of Terra Dotta Software who have limited familiarity with best practices for database and data management.
