Permissions and Training: From On-Boarding to Off-Boarding and Everywhere in Between

>>View Presentation Slides

In this session, The George Washington University will empower new and existing Super Users and Managers of StudioAbroad in assigning necessary permissions to users, training in-and out-of-office users, and maintaining permissions and changes within their StudioAbroad system.

Whenever you are tasked with introducing a new user to StudioAbroad, the process can be overwhelming for both you and the new user. GW uses StudioAbroad not only inside its Office for Study Abroad, but throughout the university for the management of our graduate exchange programs in each of our schools and colleges, independent student travel, and student organization trips.  This session will focus on how we, as StudioAbroad administrators, work with heavy and light users of the software and how best to train and work with each group.  Additionally, the session will demonstrate ways to leverage staff permissions and training resources to ease the process of onboarding. The session will explore ongoing training opportunities, identifying when users are ready to expand their knowledge and permissions in StudioAbroad, and what to do when staff members leave your institution. This session will rely primarily on examples from GW; however, the sharing of participants’ experiences using permissions and training new users is encouraged.
