PVM Is Your Friend - Taming the Process Versioning Beast

>>View Presentation Slides

Feeling bullied by the PVM?  Tired of materials not showing up, question items that won’t go away, pesky pop-ups asking you to select some boxes?  It can be pretty scary unless you understand the inner workings of the Process Version Map (PVM).  This session will explore those inner workings by breaking them down into manageable pieces and showing you how to make each piece work for you.

The PVM is actually a versioning system that permits your application processes to change and evolve over time while retaining accurate historical data.  The essential components are process elements (materials, questionnaires, learning content and assessments) which are organized into a ‘map’ or list according to application cycles.  We will look at the map itself, explain the little green circles that are trying to warn you of something, and describe the logic behind the cascade changes screen.  We will also address more complex subjects such as reporting on responses to a retired question item.

You will come away with a set of steps to follow when initially creating process elements; when planning future changes; and when correcting mistakes or omissions.  By demystifying the PVM, this session aims at putting you in control of one of the software’s most powerful and useful tools.  Target audience includes beginners as well as experienced users.
